back by popular demand.....A Libolt's blog Entry!!!!

I know that it has been a while, so here, let me blow the dust off this blog, and update you all on how we are doing.

Early in the fall Jae had an opportunity to travel south to Paris and visit her Mom. Trips like these a very easy for us and cost very little to boot.

After their wonderful trip around the Mediteranian Coast with their dear friends the Johnsons, Mom and Dad McDonald stopped and paid us all a visit - here we are at the new and improved Kelvingrove Art Museum.

Welcome the newest member of our family...Zafira! She is a wonderful 7 seater, 1.8 liter, mpv. A car is not a necessity here, however, we do feel like it is a the right step in feeling and doing things that feel "normal". Please pray that we are wise with how we use this car and that we can make up the added costs that come with owning a car.

Happy 4th to Olivia! Olivia had a fun filled day on the 4th, packed with friends, food, and gifts. She is really growing up we just see changes every day. Pray for her whenever you see the colour pink.

Here they are, I thought this would be a great way to end this update. Peace and Love from all of us!

Short Term Road Trips

For now we are done with our Short-term trips. These have proven to be a nice change in pace, plus we get to meet new people and encourage them in their relationship with Christ.
Road Trips, as we call them, are also our best tool for recruiting new 42 week participants. If you are an RT alumni reading this then you know who you are.
God has been good, and even in this busy time of the year we see Him at work, preparing and making straight the road before us.
Please pray for our team as we set up things for the 42 week participants who come on Sept 8th.
Merry Christmas!

From Wine cellar to Wilderness

Next stop.....the world of Disney!

Disney was a lot to take in for Noah buddy, but he did great and had loads of fun just hang'en out, and catching the monorail.

Disneyland is not for the weak. We found ourselves pushed to the limit often. Even for an "urban family", manuvering throughout the day just did us in. We know now what we will do different next time - but we totally had fun, just look at us!

Though her eyes were closed during many of the rides that moved - disney is packed with other fun and exciting stationary objects.

CRM WWC

Well our summer has come to a close and we are now safely back in Glasgow soaking up the liquid sunshine. We will coninue to update this blog with all of our summer highlights starting with the CRM WorldWideConference.
As you can tell from this picture California was good to us. We had wonderful weather and great fellowship with old friends and new ones as well! What a great time.
Thank you to all of you who help make this extra trip to California possible - your gifts are very appreciated!

"There's still good money in Missionary work."
This painting hangs in Roy a resturant just off State St. in downtown Santa Barabra. I found it to be quite releaving to know that I picked a secure vocation.

Mike's 31st...

We celebrated Mike's birthday this week, with a few extra guests. This week our team is hosting a group of "Road Trippers". The Road Trip is designed to give them a 10-day taste of Nieu Communities Glasgow. So far it's been a great week, and we've even had nice Spring weather! We are also anticipating our furlough, we leave in a week!! There's so much to do, so little time.... Please pray for wisdom in planning and taking care of details, and for wisdom in knowing where to stop :) We can't wait to see many of you SOON!

the rash

Happy Birthday Noah!!!

This past Saturday we celebrated Noah's first birthday! It's hard to believe our little man is already a year old. We celebrated with family and friends and Noah had a great time (apart from a wee allergic reaction and meltdown...but you can't win 'em all). Turns out Noah has a love/hate relationship with chocolate icing!

To Portugal and back

What an amazing week we had in Portugal!! We enjoyed sunshine and the beach, and a great time together as a team. Portugal is a beautiful country with friendly people who loved our kids! The hardest part was coming back to the rain...but the week away was such a gift! Now we are trying to re-engage our life, resisting the attempts of the enemy to discourage and distract us after such a great week of refocusing. We really left Portugal with the burden to have real JOY in our home and life here. It seems particularly challenging in Glasgow to have this JOY, but what a contrast our JOY is to the environment in which we live. Please continue to pray for us as we relentlessly pursue JOY, and may you battle for JOY wherever you are too!

Bapa & Nana came to visit...

Olivia & Noah were in heaven this past week, enjoying a visit from "Bapa & Nana"! We had a lovely week (well not the weather, but the company) which went by way too quickly. Thanks for a wonderful week Mom & Dad!
Over the next two months we have a lot happening, and before we know it we'll be preparing for our furlough in the States & Canada! We'll keep you posted on what's next for us....and it just so happens we leave tomorrow for a week in Portugal with our staff team. Please pray for safe travel, and just a time of refreshment and refocusing in this time away!

Spring has sprung?

Though this type of weather is not unheard of this time of the year, today's storm has taken Glasgow by some what of a suprise. Thousands of people are stranded in the city due to transport cancelations and road closers, however spirits are good, at least here on the more calm "west End". People are out playing and having a good time - it really was a great snow fall, so silent and peaceful.
Well, hope you have a great day too - we are out to enjoy the snow!

By the way our flat is the one with the half open blinds next to the flat with the snow covered window boxes.

Old friends

February has been a great month for me! After my return from France, I had a dear friend come and visit for a few days. We had a great time together catching up (she was a roommate in College who I haven't seen for almost four years), seeing a bit of Scotland together and visiting A LOT of coffee shops :) The winter months can seem long and dark here in Scotland, it was nice to have the treat of a good friend in the midst of it! I hope you're enjoying February as well! BLESSINGS to you!

A few days in France...

Well, after making it through the dreary month of January, I had the chance to get away to France, for the CRM International Staff Women's retreat. I was able to spend Feb 1-5 in beautiful Peillonex, France (just 30 minutes from Geneva, Switzerland) with some amazing women of God. I wasn't sure what to expect going into the conference, to be honest I was a bit anxious about just how "deep" it would go, and what God might do there. It definately turned out to be a setting where there was no hiding from God or what He's been trying to get at in my life. He used these wonderful fellow sisters, fellow servants of Christ, to both encourage and challenge me in a profound way. Words cannot do justice to what I experienced there, all I can really say is that God showed up, and moved in a powerful way, and I believe many of us left the conference forever changed.

Impact!

This is Sarah, one of our staff, serving food at a thanksgiving meal we hosted at the Glasgow City Mission. This event was attended by roughly 80 or 90 of our community friends! This was a shock to us all, until then we had no idea how large the impact of NieuCommunities has been in Glasgow. Since then we have just continued to see God's favor resting on our work. Please continue your prayers and support of this work here - God is up to something good!

Merry Christmas...Happy New Year...Happy Birthday...

We've had a busy month celebrating the birth of our Savior, bringing in the New Year, and celebrating Jae's birthday! We enjoyed a visit with Jae's parents over the holidays which was such a blessing to us. 2006 promises to be another year of challenges and blessings and we look forward to what's ahead for our family. Please pray for the deepening of the relationships we have already formed with locals here and for the opportunity for more.
